How do you define health? Do you think of it as a 2-week diet? Is it the exercise routine you follow just to fit into that class reunion outfit? Might it be something that you'll get around to addressing "some day"? The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Based on this definition, health isn't a "one and done" concept, but a lifestyle. Thinking about health this way may require you to change your mindset. Change isn't always comfortable, but it's required for growth and development. Change won't happen overnight, It requires work. Change is difficult. However, not changing can be detrimental. Here's the process of change: 1) DESIRE - experiencing a strongly felt need to change (YOU have to want it). 2) KNOWLEDGE - awareness about what you are currently doing. 3) SKILL - for what you prefer to be doing. 4) TAKE ACTION - use discipline to practice the new skill until it's automatic. Change is a choice. It begins with your thoughts and progresses to words, actions and habits. Can you think of habits that are interfering with your ability to reach your health goals? Now, take a few minutes to think about HABITS:
H - How to
A - Alter
B - Behaviors
I - In
